ABOUT

The Australian Curriculum: Technologies, Foundation to Year 10 consists of two subjects. Design and Technologies , and Digital Technologies. These subjects contain knowledge, understanding and skills in two disticnt but interrelated strands of Knowledge and understanding, and Process and production skills.  The two resources will also provide teachers with a unit overview, teacher background information, with student support  that is relevant to each subject from the Australian Curriculum: Technologies.

 

Design and Technologies
Year 4
Design and Technologies Knowledge and Understanding

 

Recognise the role of people in design and technologies occupations and explore factors, including sustainability that impact on the design of products, services and environments to meet community needs (ACTDEK010)

 

Design and Technologies Processes and Production Skills

 

Generate, develop, and communicate design ideas and decisions using appropriate technical terms and graphical representation techniques (ACTDEP015)

 

Elaborations: generating a range of design ideas for intended products, services, environments and planning, sharing and documenting creative ideas and processes using digital tools such as a class blog or collaborative document.

Digital Technologies
Year 2
Digital Technologies Knowledge and Understanding

 

Recognise and explore digital systems (hardware and software components) for a purpose (ACTDIK001)

 

Digital Technologies Processes and Production Skills
 

Create and organise ideas and information using information systems independently and with others, and share these with known people in safe online environments (ACTDIPOO6)

 

Elaborations: planning and creating text, drawings and sound files to share online, for example jointly creating a photo story to illustrate a fable or fairy-tale from the Asia region or a local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community story.
